The GamerPops Philosophy

There’s a whole wide world of games out there, and at GamerPops, we want to bring you the best coverage and opinions on all of them. However, we’re not only gamers, we’re parents as well. So while we’re interested in the latest AAA titles and news, we also want to highlight kid- and family friendly titles as well.

You can look forward to news, previews, reviews and commentary on the latest events and releases, but also a special focus on those games made specifically for kids. If you’re a hardcare gamer, feel free to skip the family stuff and enjoy the rest of our site, but if you are a parent like us, I hope you’ll enjoy content here that you won’t find at other hardcore gaming sites.

The GamerPops Mission

Our mission is to be the #1 resource for gamers who have kids, and what to know what’s appropriate and what’s not. We will provide honest and real information, from the perspective of real gamers who are parents. You won’t get the typical anti-gaming bias that you’ll be get from other parenting sites. We love video games, we love our kids, and we know that you do too.

The GamerPops Review System

GamerPops reviews reflect our belief that all games deserve to be evaluated fairly, on their own merits, in terms of what its trying to accomplish and well it achieves its aims, and not just how it compares to Modern Warfare 2.

This is especially true when we review games for kids and family. No one expects a family title to equal a AAA release, but that doesn’t mean it can’t succeed in a different way. That’s why GamerPops developed our two-pronged review scale, which you can see a sample of below.

On one side is the Gamer Scale, which looks at the overall quality of the game, factoring in the visuals and audio, gameplay, originality, and a general sense of whether the game was fun or not.

The Pops Scale looks at how appropriate the game is for younger players, in terms of content, appeal and gameplay.

We feel that this scale allows to meet our goal of fairly evaluating games made for different audiences. And if a game is truly awful in both ways, we’ll call it out and explain it, because our goal is to be fair and honest.
